What is a man of God? The Scriptures reveal to us that he is many things, all of them resembling Jesus Christ. Men of God are humble others-centered servants, Godly husbands and fathers, faithful men full of integrity and personal holiness, men of initiative who are busy about the Lord’s business, men of the church and men of prayer. They are leaders and providers for their families, loving their wives as Christ loves His church, bringing up his children in the Lord. And the list goes on! Sound Impossible? It’s not. Jesus said, “If any man come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” King Solomon said, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” This is why Christian men, to grow strong in their faith, must have Godly fellowship with one another and an active outlet for their God-ordained ministry as men. Here at Calvary Chapel Georgetown Divide, our Men’s Ministry seeks to foster just such as atmosphere by encouraging active involvement in the very things toward which men are naturally drawn: leading, building, fixing, and food!
Men's Prayer Ministry
Saturday Mornings, 8:00 AM, at the Church
The Bible is explicit about God wanting men to pray. When men pray, God works; and men see God working, anticipate His answers, and learn to wait on Him. It is in prayer where things get done, for it is then that we learn that the almighty hand that holds the universe also holds all the requests and provisions of needy people, and their ultimate victory. Gathering faithfully each Saturday morning, the Men's Prayer Ministry takes time to seek the Lord concerning the needs of the church and the requests of those on our weekly prayer list, followed by a hearty breakfast and fellowship at a local cafe. The Apostle Paul declared, "I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer..." (1 Tim 2:8). This is a commanding aspiration, and it is our joy. Come out, men, and pray!
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians. 4:6-7)
"Be joyful always; pray continually; 18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thess. 5:16-18)
